Day Trips in an around Rees

Situated on the Rhine, Rees lies between the towns of Emmerich and Wiesel, close to the Dutch border.

Rees is part of the District of Kleve, in the Administrative District of Dusseldorf.

Its EU Car Registration Code is: KLE

The town has approximately 22,578 inhabitants, and occupies an area of around 109,85 km².

Its suburbs include: Haldern, Bienen, Millingen, Empel, Haffen and Mehr.

Attractions for Visitors:

The beautiful and renowned Rhein Promenade.

Take a look around its many shops, or perhaps just take the opportunity to sit down with a cake and a cup of coffee and enjoy the wonderful view.

12 well-designed Cycle Routes.

Rees Council have published a brochure showing 12 different cycling routes in and around the town: this can be purchased for 1 Euro from the Civic Offices, or downloaded from their website. The routes vary in length from 20 to 70 km, and are designed to take visitors through each of the towns’ suburbs. The chief advantage of these routes is that they all involve round trips, enabling visitors to plan their own tours of each area.

Medieval Monuments

There is a delightful walk through the old "Stadtumwehrung“, as much of the area – including original buildings from the early Medieval period – have been preserved.

The Sculpture Park

Constructed in 2003, the Sculpture Park – situated near the old Stadtumwehrung – gives walkers and Art lovers alike a charming meeting place. On display are various works by Dutch and German artists, covering a wide range of creative styles.

The Marina

Less than a few minutes away from the Town Center by bicycle, yachts and small motor boats bob gently up and down in the water. Take a few minutes to unwind here.

Boat Tours

Ferry or Cruise vessel?
The Ferry is of course, mainly for carrying cars, motorbikes, cyclists and pedestrians across the Rhine. The Cruise vessels, on the other hand, head further along the Rhine, allowing passengers a relaxed view of the wonderful scenery and the surrounding towns along its banks. It opens up the scope for visitors to plan their own day trips out of Rees and further along the Rhine.
